It described roles for both fibre and copper, including copper connections supporting powered devices and sensors. Its central planning point was to consider physical connectivity alongside space, cooling and operational requirements.<\/p><h2>Practical implications<\/h2><p><em>The following is XConnect\u2019s planning interpretation.<\/em><\/p><p>Cable management is a practical facilities decision. A rack that is easy to service reduces the temptation to disturb working connections during a change. Efficiency claims should still be measured at the facility: replacing a cable does not establish a particular energy saving.
