Fibre handover checklist: make every connection traceable
Archive focus: September 2026 · Prepared 17 October 2026 · XConnect FZE

Retrospective: This article was prepared on 17 October 2026 for our September 2026 archive. It is a technical review, not a report of a launch in that month.
Technical context
Fluke Networks’ fibre-testing overview distinguishes loss measurement, inspection and fault-characterisation tools. This September technical retrospective focuses on turning those activities into a usable handover. An acceptance package should make clear which link was tested, what method and limits were used, and how the result relates to the installed network.
Practical implications
The following is XConnect’s planning interpretation.
The final handover is also the starting point for maintenance. Review the records from the perspective of someone who did not install the system. They should be able to locate a port, understand its intended destination and find the relevant evidence without contacting the original installer. Resolve naming conflicts and missing records before the project is closed.
What to review
- Cross-check a sample of labels against drawings and the connection register.
- Confirm that test files cover the installed links and required acceptance criteria.
- Assign ownership for keeping the register current after subsequent moves and changes.
