Retrospective: This article was prepared on 17 October 2026 for our April 2026 archive. It is a technical review, not a report of a launch in that month.

Technical context

Fluke Networks discusses testing twisted-pair cabling used for audiovisual systems, including the importance of application requirements and relevant electrical measurements. This April technical retrospective applies that principle to meeting rooms and connected workplaces. A working display during a brief demonstration is not a substitute for the agreed cable acceptance evidence.

Practical implications

The following is XConnect’s planning interpretation.

Room technology often brings together IT, audiovisual and fit-out contractors. Their specifications need to meet at the same physical link. Identify the intended system before choosing the test scope, then make the handover readable to the team that will support the room. Records should distinguish the installed cable from device configuration and active equipment checks.

What to review

  • Agree the AV system and cabling requirements before the ceiling is closed.
  • Identify each room link consistently on drawings, outlets and test reports.
  • Test the complete room separately after accepting the underlying cabling.
