Cable testing handover: preventing avoidable acceptance disputes
Archive focus: September 2025 · Prepared 17 October 2026 · XConnect FZE

Retrospective: This article was prepared on 17 October 2026 for our September 2025 archive. It is a technical review, not a report of a launch in that month.
Technical context
Fluke Networks’ June 2025 testing guidance emphasises agreeing parameters before testing, maintaining suitable equipment and discussing marginal results in advance. We revisit that guidance in this September technical retrospective. A project’s agreed specification and the applicable manufacturer requirements should determine the evidence collected for handover.
Practical implications
The following is XConnect’s planning interpretation.
The project owner needs a usable record, not a folder of anonymous pass screens. A structured handover connects each result to a drawing and installed asset. It should also expose any exceptions, retests and changes made after the first acceptance run. This lets a future engineer understand what was actually checked without reconstructing the installation from memory.
What to review
- Agree test scope and the handling of marginal results before work starts.
- Require native result files and a readable summary with matching link identifiers.
- List unresolved exceptions explicitly and assign responsibility for their closure.
